126 Years and Counting!

Who We Are

Introduction to the Hartselle Camp Meeting

By Jimmy Yarbrough (2025)

The Hartselle Camp Meeting was founded in 1900 as part of the Holiness Movement that occurred in the United States in the late 19th century.  Our camp was founded by Rev. Ben W. Huckabee, a holiness preacher.  The Hartselle Camp Meeting is just as relevant today as it was in beginning.  God’s Word is still proclaimed and is still the focal point of camp.  Fellowship remains warm and friendly, and all denominations are welcome.

Many say the Hartselle Camp Meeting is a “time machine,” taking those who attend back to a simpler, less complicated way of life experienced by their ancestors.  Others comment that there is a peace about our camp.  It would be interesting to know how many thousands have come to know the Lord or made rededications at the altar, or “mourners’ bench”, under the Tabernacle.  Truly the ground beneath the Tabernacle is “holy ground,” made so by the preaching of God’s Word and the prayers of saints worshipping and giving praise  and thanksgiving to their Lord for decades.

While holding to many of the traditions of those early days, the camp has adapted in some ways to a changing world.  We have modern facilities: a state-of-the art dining room and an awesome youth dorm, improved seating in the Tabernacle and a new caretaker’s house. We still sing the old hymns, but are open to new worship songs.  Camp has been shortened to six days. A vibrant youth program is an important part of camp.

Our desire is that you will come to camp meeting and experience for yourself a very special place that has been used powerfully by God for over 125 years, and hopefully will continue to do so until Jesus comes back again.

Come worship with us!
